Central Business District Traffic Interconnect

Driving in and around major downtown business districts can prove a challenge in most cities. Chicago is no exception. Thousands of cars and pedestrians commute through Chicago’s Downtown Business District on a daily basis. The Chicago Department of Transportation contracted with Divane Bros. Electric Co. to assist in the flow of traffic and improve safety for both vehicles and pedestrians through the installation of a Traffic Interconnect System. Intersections in downtown are fiber optically linked to help control the flow of traffic in and out of the city during peak travel periods. Miles of fiber transmit light signals to modernized controllers located at each intersection to coordinate operation of the newly installed traffic signals.

This installation is yet another example of Divane Bros. and the City of Chicago working in concert to provide upgraded conveniences for people living, working or visiting Chicago.
