Railroad SignalingRailroad signaling is at the heart of the safety and control of the nation's railway system. Both passengers and railroad personnel rely on signal systems to safely and efficiently rout rail traffic. The motoring public also relies on signals at grade crossings to safely regulate traffic flow. Divane Bros. Electric Co. has become a trusted resource in this field with several major projects in the Chicagoland area, the railroad hub of the nation. |
Union StationChicago’s Union Station is one of the busiest train stations in the country, serving over 50,000 passengers per day. When the station needed to upgrade their critical control systems, they turned to Divane Bros. Union Station employs a complex system called "Railroad Interlocking", which is an arrangement of signals and signal appliances operated from a central data processing network. Each critical interlocking is controlled from a remote control center, with redundant controls in place at a "Disaster Recovery Center". The power supplies for these systems are also redundant, with four alternate power sources provided by Divane Bros. In addition to control systems, Divane also installed snow melting equipment and de-watering systems. These systems are absolutely critical to the safety and efficiency of the passenger traffic passing through Union Station, and Divane Bros. completed the implementation of this highly complex system with no interruption of train traffic. |
