Divane Bros. Electric Co. employs a highly trained, specialized team to install, service, and maintain all types of communication and low voltage systems for risk management, security, communications, and data. Our services include telecommunications and data systems, closed circuit video systems, satellite dish antennas, cellular phone sites, microwave systems, instrumentation and temperature controls, fire alarm, security and access control, and fiber optics. This division, known as db Communications, can handle your most demanding low voltage needs.

Design-Build

As is all industries, change is constant. The increased complexity of many electrical installations combined with the compressed construction schedules has lead to the evolution of design/build contracts. Divane Bros. Electric Co. has performed an increasing number of these projects following a design - build process. Our team of estimators and project managers work in conjunction with the owner from the development of scope of work through construction. Our full service CADD Department provides the project with detailed installation drawings, and immediate attention to changes made during the installation process.

Commonwealth Edison Crisis Management Center

This demanding project illustrates Divane Bros. Electric Co.’s design/build capabilities. The ComEd Crisis Management Center project consisted of a six-story, 150,000 square-foot facility, including office space, a data center, and a communications center. ComEd’s needs required a Fast-Track schedule, with the data center operational in only three weeks, and the sixth floor offices occupied within six weeks. Additionally, a new floor had to be ready for occupancy in each of the succeeding four weeks.

Divane Bros. project management functioned smoothly throughout the project, and facilitated communications in both directions from Customer to Architect to Construction Manager to Subcontractor. This was crucial, as ComEd’s needs constantly evolved, requiring adept and responsive project management.

This was an extremely complex project with a very aggressive schedule, and it was the largest Chicago suburban tenant move in 15 years. Still, the Divane Bros. design-build process and the close working relationship between all parties resulted in a 16-week completion versus the traditional construction schedule of 25 weeks.

Divane Bros. Low Voltage Division is a trusted resource for the wireless communications industry. We have installed PCS sites for cellular telephone service, Global Positioning Systems, and paging systems.

Divane Bros. has installed antenna arrays on a wide variety of locations, including rooftops, water towers, smoke stacks, billboards, and new and existing monopoles and towers. We have also installed communication towers as tall as 400 feet with microwave and camera systems for the communications and traffic control sectors.

Telecommunications and data networks are increasingly becoming the backbone of modern business and society. These systems require knowledge in a wide variety of disciplines including traditional copper-based switching systems, fiber optic technology, and data networking backbones. Divane Bros. has experience implementing these systems for both public and private sector clients.

One recent project involved the installation of wireless data networks for Chicago Public Schools. This massive undertaking involved the installation of cabling systems to support wireless LAN antennas inside dozens of schools in Chicago. By minimizing cabling installations through the use of wireless LAN technology, Internet access was provided for a fraction of the cost of hard-wired connections. Connection points to the information superhighway were installed in virtual every classroom, bringing the world to thousands of students with the click of a button.



Fire Alarm Systems

No building system is more critical to occupants’ safety than the fire alarm system, and Divane Bros. is a leader in the installation of these systems for public and private sector clients. Divane Bros. has extensive experience in the design and installation of fire alarm systems for large facilities and buildings, and our experience with City of Chicago building codes allows us to expedite projects, from permitting all the way through inspection and certification.

Cook County Department of Corrections

Divane Bros. Electric Co. completed an upgrade of the security systems for Divisions V and VI at the Cook County Department of Corrections Facility. Divane installed a campus monitoring system for eleven detention buildings and new security monitoring and system wiring in two buildings. These systems included new proximity sensors that are used to sense cell door position, and a new PLC control system to control perimeter doors. Divane Bros. also installed a new CCTV system, audio system, intercom system, fire alarm system, and removed existing obsolete equipment.
