Chicago Ave. Subway Station
The Chicago Transit Authority’s recent renovation of the Chicago Avenue / State Street Subway was an extensive reconstruction that included structural expansion and complete remodeling of interior finishes. To make the project even more ambitious, all work had to be performed while this station, one of the city’s busiest, remained open to the public
Divane Bros.’ work included installing new electrical services, power distribution vaults for Commonwealth Edison, switchgear, lighting, and backup power services, including a DC Static Inverter, which was the first unit of its kind installed on the CTA. Divane Bros. also installed communications systems including fiber optic, an audio/visual public address system, supervisory monitoring, and fire alarm systems. The project also included new street lighting and traffic signal work at the intersection of Chicago & State streets and new lighting at the Holy Name Cathedral (located adjacent to the work site).
